Walking in a Winter Wonder – forget it, I’m going home.
Posted by Adrenalynn on 14 March 2010
This has been the longest winter I can remember. Actually, it’s been the longest winter anyone around here can remember. We used to keep track of the actual number of days with snow, but when we broke the old record a while back I think we all just gave up. And discovered that a three month long winter can make even a snow hugging people like ourselves fall on our knees and pray for rain.
I’m not going to lie to you; it’s been tough having to watch my husband grab that shovel and walk out the door every single morning. And those poor people on bicycles haven’t had an easy winter either. You’d think they’d come to their senses and walk, run, drive, or even get down on all fours instead, but those brave fighters have stuck to it.
Don’t believe me? Do check out these two videos that I shot on the same day a few weeks ago:
My case? It rests.

Private video eh?
Hmmm?
All the snow has gone from my part of the UK, but the icy wind reminds us that it’s still winter!

Hi Dave; there, I fixed it! That’s stupid YouTube for you. I’ll send you that link for the private video later…
Hey, guess what happened over here?? Our snow finally melted this past week! Woohoo! Just little bits left here and there. Enough for me to make a few snowballs…and start a little snowball fight with the neighbor…or my kids!
So, you will SOON be dancing in the rain! Don’t forget the camera!!

Hi Lance!! You have no idea how jealous I am! We got a fresh batch of snow delivered just this morning. And I’m SO over snowball fights right now! I can’t wait to dance in the rain
Hi Adrenalynn! Your name sounds very… uhm… energetic. Is it by mere coincidence that those people you caught on video were getting a kick out of riding in the snow? hehe. Anyway, I’m just dropping by to say hello, but I’ll be back so I can read more of your stuff.
Peace and respect,
Ryhen

Hi Ryhen; thanks for coming by! Oh, and don’t be fooled, I’m actually very lazy
OK, I’m going to show those pictures to my husband who thinks that cycling in London this winter has been akin to battling to the North Pole. Sunshine here today; the best Mother’s Day present I could have wished for!

Hi Angels and Urchins; I can’t imagine cycling in anything less than summery temperatures, so I’m kinda siding with your husband on this one! Though I’m very happy to hear you got to enjoy some sun on Mother’s Day! Thanks for stopping by
Today for me the clouds parted, the sun shined, and the birds sang … and I forgot how much I had missed the smell of Spring.
As much as I like a Winter Wonderland, I think it would get old after a while. There’s only so many snowball fights and sledding you can do.

Hi J.D; that sounds like a little piece of Heaven! How I miss the smell of spring. I can’t believe I started December off wishing for snow – I did NOT know what I was asking for!
I hope we have a winter just like this next year aswell. Since I’ll be able to go outside next winter. Since I’m definately not going to be knocked up again next year.

i’m so glad i got the h-e double hockey sticks out of Winnipeg while it was still freezing.
i don’t know whether it makes it better or worse to say ‘greetings from sunny malaysia’?
i’ll eat a fresh papaya for you.
love&light!

Hi Jodie; thank you for coming by! You know, reading your lovely blog the other day got me in such a springtime kinda mood, I almost forgot to wallow in my own misery for a while! I even brought peep-toe ballerinas to work, and felt absolutely fabulous the second I got them on. So I’ve decided to let the snow do whatever it wants, I’m celebrating spring!
I’m gonna hate having to watch my hubby go out the door all those mornings too, with shovel in hand once we move back to Canada. But I will wish him well on that!
xo
Hi Jannie; you..what? Are you moving? What did I miss? And where? I’m so in love with Canada!
